Discuss: Mercy

This was my least favorite JP book

Hello! I don't know why, but this was my least favorite JP book. Can someone please summerize what happens throughout the whole thing? Including telling me any big plot twists and what happens at the end? I couldn't finish it.

From the introduction of Mia until the very end I was expecting some big revelation about her because I just got the impression from the get go that there was something about her. The fact that she had crossed paths with Cam and some other statements were made that definitely made me think that there was something to reveal about her. However, it never came, and this kind of messed up the book for me. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it a lot, but when it was over I almost felt...

i am working on a report on this novel, where i am basically writting an article about the idea of euthanasia, and its relation to Mercy. While reading i recall coming across a quote that was perfect, but i forgot the page. It basically was about the whole idea of mercy killing out of love. Went in Borders today, they seem to have a lot of 'buy one get one half price' offers on Jodi's books in paperback format, including Mercy, which seems to be heavily promoted

Mercy is my absolute favourite JP novel, and I constantly fantasise about various alternative outcomes when not reading. Not sure if this qualifies for discusssion, but it's about assumptions. I'd always assumed Allie was short for Alison, now I'm wondering if her name was Alice, Alicia or Alison.

Could someone help and explain to me what that means? I'm sorry, it just sounds right for a story I am in the process of writing but I could do with some help!

At the very end, when Jamie walks out of the courtroom and it says:

"...to where Magige was already waiting for him."

I never thought of this until I was re-reading it a while ago, but did that mean he was going to kill himself? The use of the word 'already' made me think that Jamie would kill himself later, but wasn't surprised that Jodi left it there, for our own speculation...so what's your opinion? x

I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of who the letters at the beginning of some of the chapters are from?

Also, I was kind of confused when Cam's mom said "you'd figure out that a baby born 2 months early is never, ever ten pounds" when talking about why she lied about her age/ran away. Explanations?
