I am about half way through Vanishing Acts and am struggling with the character of Fitz. I feel like he is a poor duplication of Patrick in Perfect
Match/Nineteen Minutes. Just wondering if he gets any type of purpose in the book or do I have to just keep reading his sappy longing for Delia? It is
getting REALLY annoying. Other than that, I like the book pretty much. I'm starting to wonder if you grow up with someone if you automatically fall in
love with them (lol)

Hey everyone!
I'm new to these boards, but I absolutely love Jodi Picoult's books.
I'm 14, and have read all her books except 5. So, I've saved up some money, and would like some advice on which one I should buy.
The books I haven't read are:

Vanishing Acts
Second Glance
Perfact Match
Salem Falls and
Plain Truth
So which do you all think is best?

I just began reading Jodi and overall I like her books. But honestly the translation in the book to Spanish killed me. Shark is tiburón. Mayate is spelled
Mayate. There were a few other errors but I just think that someone would of found these errors before they went to print. It almost seemed like they
didn't care about accuracy. I'm sorry but that really bugged me.

I just started getting into Jodi Picoult books, my first being 19 Minutes. Anyway, I just finished Vanishing Acts, and I wanted to know if the boy who dies
when Andrew is in jail (I can't remember the character name...Clutch or something) is Peter from 19 Minutes. I know at the end he stuffed a sock down his
throat in jail, and the same thing happened to the kid in Vanishing Acts. Just thought I'd ask.

Finished the book yesterday - I absolutely loved it. Quoted some good lines from the book and share with readers here:

- It took me a lifetime to realize things don't get lost if they don't have value - you don't miss what you don't care about.

- Sometimes, when you don't ask question, it's not because you are afraid that someone will lie to your face. - It's because you're afraid
they'll tell you the truth.

- Love is the most...

Ellise's age?

Ahoy there, have read Vanishing Acts a few times over, but have still hit on this little snag: In the trial, Ellise states that she is 47 years old, yet Andrew
confirms for Delia/Bethany that she is in fact 31. Now, I'm aware that it is possible Ellise could have given birth at 16, yet the novel states that she
and Andrew were married before Delia/Bethany came along...

If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be much appreciated. <img height="15"...

I just finished this book, and by the end felt no sympathy for Andrew at all. He lied far too many times for me, he denied Delia her past, he pushed drugs in
jail, he lied on the witness stand. At the end, when he tells Delia he took her "because she asked him to" he is also doing what he does best:
twisting the truth to suit his purpose. When a young child says "Daddy, I don't want to go home yet" that is NOT "consent to abduction"
in my book. This guy...

During reading "Vanishing Acts" I was reminded forcibly of a song I had recently heard. The relationship between the charachters, and the words they almost never quite manage to say, seem summed up with breathtaking accuracy in this song. It is "Keep Holding On" By Avril Lavigne. You can google the lyrics. I hope you see the parelells I see, and evjoy the annalogy between these 2 peices!
